education & training
The Continuing Education and Apprentice Training Programs illustrate Local 68's commitment to keeping our members on the edge of technology and knowledge. Since 1958, thousands of members have graduated the four-year apprentice training program and been certified for journeyman's status with the U.S. Department of Labor. Nearly every subject is covered from refrigeration to pipe fitting and welding, plus new course offerings on indoor air quality and certification for Systems Maintenance Administrator through our affiliation with the Building Owners and Managers Institute. So if you want to learn something new or just take a refresher course, all you need to do is sign up. Day and night classes, featuring a diverse curriculum and convenient times, are offered throughout the state or at our West Caldwell and Pleasantville training centers.
Local 68 members pay one low annual fee, which allows them to take an unlimited number of classes throughout the year. Non-members can also take classes at the Local 68 Training Center for a fee. The curriculum has been redesigned and expanded to include a specific apprentice track with the required license preparation courses, a Chief Engineers Module, and other customized on-site trainings.
More and more, the jobs available with Local 68 are requiring licenses and advanced skills. When we have the most skilled and talented men and women working on all of our sites, Local 68 remains the best and ONLY option available to our employers. Your education is an insurance policy, second to none.
